THE NEXT NEW THING

I dont know what is the next new thing is going to be, but I've seen one technology which can become big or next new thing. It's 3d TV, but with no glass or wall needed. Basically, its a small Box which shoots the lights in the air and create its own TV on the air. The guy who made it said that, he has been working on this thing since last 5 years. Also, as per him this kind of thing should hit the market by 2012, where you don't need TV, glass or wall to display what is coming out from that box. It makes its own display right on the air and anywhere. We can say its kind a holography system. Its not exactly that but the images that comes out from that box is like holography. 3D and works any where over the air.

ADVICE TO BARUCH COLLEGE

1) Create a system for students to find out what classes We have to take to graduate. This can help all the students to know, where they are standing right now and what classes they need to take. We have some system like that call degree work at Baruch, but I wouldn't trust it or use it. Its not reliable at all; most of the time it doesn't work and takes too long to update its information regarding students.

2.) Improve Blackboard. We are on version 8.0 and its still very slow. So many professors at Baruch doesn't like to use BB, because either its under construction or slow. Blackboard is the main platform for Baruch to be in touch with their students, and their main system is so pathetic in outdated.

3.) Improve communication tool. I would try and get videos or tutorials that are accessible online, this would help students to always go back and look what's going on in class.

OLD VS. NEW

There are some differences between Old media and New Media. I would say old media is like one sided, where you can only give the information, but cant receive it. Also, its slow. New Media is faster, reliable and user oriented. Old media is something like Newspapers, magazines or books. New media is digitalizing. Something like Kindle or online books, newspapers.

1.) Finding Information. Like, if someone wants to find some kind of information through old media than it would take long time for that person to do it. Cause they have to read or find the articles and etc. New media does it very fast and also its reliable with its information. Also, you get much more information write by sitting home then going out to find those informations.

2.) During Old days the only way of faster communication was Phones. Now with New technology around we have E-Mail, IM, Video Calling and etc. This new technology enable us to use the world wide source faster and helps us to interact with the people all over the world.

3.) Education Online - Now a days from the help of new media students can study from the home and when ever they have time. This helps them to earn the degree. Many colleges have started this online classes. Like,
University of Berkeley’s gives students an option to take their classes online. Where in old media, this convenient ways of education wasn't possible.
